Analog Youth
Analog Youth asks a simple question: What happens when the next generation rediscovers the music that shaped the past?

My Role: Brand Identity, Logo Design, Illustration, Social Media Concept
Timeline: 1 Week
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop
Analog Youth was created in response to the cultural shift that occurred when MTV moved away from its roots as a music-focused television channel.
For many years, music television introduced new artists, shaped youth culture, and created a shared experience around discovering music. As that format disappeared, many younger audiences lost exposure to the history and influence of earlier music eras.
Analog Youth was developed as a social media concept designed to reintroduce classic music to younger generations through short-form video content. The project combines nostalgic broadcast-inspired visuals with curated music clips, encouraging viewers to rediscover influential tracks from previous decades.
The visual identity draws heavily from vintage television aesthetics, signal distortion, and analog broadcast graphics. These elements reinforce the project’s central idea: reconnecting modern audiences with the era when music discovery felt tangible and communal.

What I Did
The project began by researching the visual culture surrounding early music television and analog broadcasting. I studied vintage televisions, signal interference patterns, and broadcast graphics to develop a visual system that reflects the imperfect textures and energy of analog media.

From there, I created the core logo and identity system using distressed typography, broadcast-inspired iconography, and layered textures. These elements were designed to reinforce the nostalgic tone of the project while remaining flexible enough to work across digital formats.

I then applied the identity to motion and video content designed for social media. The videos combine classic music tracks with analog-style visuals and television interference effects to recreate the feeling of discovering music through broadcast media.

The goal of Analog Youth is not just nostalgia, but cultural reconnection. By presenting older music through modern platforms, the project aims to introduce influential songs and artists to audiences who may have never experienced them before.
